From St. Petersburg to Munich. From one art world to another.
I haven’t seen aliens, but I’ve swum in the Atlantic and been to Antarctica. I’ve travelled far and met a lot of nice, quirky people who keep inspiring me to make still and moving pictures.
My first degree was in engineering. Then I chose humans over machines and went to the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, surrounded by people from film, music and other creative fields. That’s where photography stopped being a hobby and became a diagnosis. The machines, ironically, caught up with me anyway.
For me the most interesting subject is a human. I’m a portrait photographer looking for something honest and real inside each of us. I like it when you are sad, and I like it when you are funny. I love to provoke, I follow my intuition, and I reserve the right to remain mysterious.
These days I also work with generative AI: the tools change, the eye stays mine. On another note, everyone likes pasta for dinner, don’t they?
